5k baby! Race Day Weekend... ♥

I'm quite certain that weekends can't get better than this!
On Friday night, I headed out to Logan to se my sister and run our 5k! The morning of the race, I ate oatmeal and drank a bottle of Cytomax to give myself some energy.

With my sister, before the race.

Lisa and I picked up our packets about half an hour before the race started, and then we warmed up and stretched out. (My favorite stretches are the butterfly stretch and any calf stretch. [Shin splints suck!])

Numba' 70!!!

The first half of the race was easy peasy. I had no problem keeping my breathing even, and I rather enjoyed it. The last half though... It was brutal. Everything hurt, I had to really concentrate on my breathing, and I was pretty much just trying to finish. Once I got to the last quarter mile, I picked up the pace. That's when things got really tough. I was cramping like crazy. At the very last stretch, I sprinted in and was feeling pretty proud of myself. Overall, I enjoyed the race. It was tough, but I'm proud of myself for doing it. I'm definitely gonne run a few more 5ks and at least one 10k before the Timp Marathon comes along in July.

My race t-shirt. Represent!

As Lisa and I were driving back to her house, she looked at the clock and realized that her Body Combat class had just started at the gym. We went straight from the race to the gym, and did an hour of Body Combat. I think I'm in love. I'm going to start taking classes at my gym now!

MEET RICHARD
After our Body Combat class, Lisa dropped me off with my friend Richard, and we talked for 15 minutes before he had to go to work. I got to ride on the back of his beautiful bike on my way back to my sister's house... It's very fast. Me likey. Motorcycles ROCK.

My niece and I.

I love authentic Mexican food.

My sister, her daughter, and I went out to eat on Saturday afternoon. It was super yummy. There's nothing like fresh chips ans salsa. The restaurant was called El Toro.

PHOTOGRAPHY

I took some pictures of m lovely niece this weekend. She was so cute and photogenic. I absolutely love her eyes.

My niece with her uncle (my brother.)

I did her hair for this little photoshoot. Here is a detail shot of her hair:

Funny Story!
Lisa, my niece, my brother, and I were driving around after we finished taking pictures, and she was being silly. She kept driving around in circles and my niece was complaining that she was car sick. Lisa, being the silly mama she is, kept teasing and driving in circles, so my niece insisted that her mom owed her some frozen yogurt. I was in. I love frozen yogurt!

Sweet coconut frozen yogurt with mango sauce and fresh fruit. Mmm....

"Hey Morgan, what was your favorite part of the weekend?"

I love my family, but my favorite part of the weekend, by far, was spending time with David.

After I drove home from Logan on Saturday night, I took a long bubble bath then headed over to David's house. We spent most of today laying around and watching TV. It was a wonderful lazy day. :)

I'm watching "The Lincoln Lawyer", then I'm off to bed. I have work tomorrow!

Don't Fight Forces, Use Them.

PHOTOGRAPHY

As I said in my last post, I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding yesterday. It was a really fun wedding, and the couple was so cute! Here's a few of my favorite shots from last night.

They were married in the LDS Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Guess who ran a full 5k on the treadmill on Tuesday!!! That's right, my friends, I did! I was so unbelievably stoked.
My Current 5k Time:
31 minutes 3 seconds.
Tonight, David and I are going for a run on a trail. Since my 5k next weekend is going to be outside, I need to start practicing outside. Running on grass or dirt is better for your muscles, so we're hitting up a dirt trail. I know that running outside is harder, so I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm also being a little bit naughty with my eating habits lately. It's so hard to eat healthy when I'm busy! My goal for the next couple weeks is to put together a menu (Thank God for Pinterest), and FOLLOW IT. The following is the hard part.

If I don't get outta here, I'm never gonna get on that trail, so I'm off!
Love, Morgan.

2 miles down, 1.18 to go...

Here's a photo of my outfit tonight. I wish I had worn a belt or pulled down my shirt before the picture, but you get the idea.

Shoes: TOMS (Nordstrom)    Tanks: Vanity     Scarf: 5.7.9     Jeans: Buckle     Jacket: Thrifted

PHOTOGRAPHY

I had so much fun tonight, taking pictures of my friends, running around the park, and just being silly.

Here's some of the photos I took of my friends:

Love the color in this. It shows KK's personality.

Cute portrait. (LOVE HER BELT)

Love his red shirt.

David is very photogenic.

Proof of how difficult it is to get everyone to look good in a group shot!

Also, here is a picture of my hardly impressive, pasty
white abs. I should really get working on those.

After we hung out with friends, David and I went to the gym. For the first time since my fall, I ran two miles tonight! I was so stoked. I'm still pretty out of shape, but having a workout buddy is helping me meet my goals. My new short term goal is to go to the gym at least 4 out of the next 7 days. The past few weeks, I've only been going 3. Ideally, I should be working out 5 days a week to prepare for my race. It's only 15 days away... Ahhhh!

Tomorrow's Agenda:
SLEEP IN
Work out
Photography
More photography
Write a speech
Love my life...
Oh wait, I already do.

Goodnight lovlies!
Love, Morgan

Sleep Deprivation...?

I have so much to post about today!
Let's start with today's outfit:

Jeans: Forever21     Shirt: Vanity     Blazer: H&M     Sandles: Head Over Heels

I got these sandles a long time ago, but I love them! They go with almost anything, and they're super comfy.

Here's some photography, as promised!

====================================

I was pretty disappointed with myself last night. I was planning on running 2 miles, and I only went 1.75... I think my problem is that I'm not getting enough sleep. My psychologist told me once that if you do things in bed becides sleep (Ex: Blog ;), watch TV) it can make it harder to fall asleep once you lay
down, so I bought myself this moon chair to sit in instead. It's soooo comfy, and I love it. We'll see if the doc was right about that as time goes on. All I know is that I have a 5k coming up on the 28th, and I need to train without feeling like death!
I'll be back to the gym tomorrow!

I'll let you know how that goes.
Off to go grocery shopping!
Love, Morgan

Irksome Injury...

It seems that, no matter how hard I try, my passions and hobbies interfere with each other. Another of my passions is horseback riding.

Lily and I (A horse from my adventures at scout camp.)

About a week and a half ago, I took a pretty knarly spill off the horse I've been working with (Her name is Mystique). I landed on my hip, scraped across my back and shoulders, then konked my head on the ground pretty hard. I only had on visible battle scar:

But as it turns out, I hurt myself pretty good in that fall.
I went running about a week after my fall and felt like I was going to throw up afterwards. Didn't think much of it. Maybe I pushed myself to hard.
When I went running a few days later, I couldn't run more than .33 miles without feelings dizzy and getting a headache. Turns out I misaligned my spine pretty good when I fell off Mystique.

I went to the chiropractor today, and he talked to me, examined me, tested, me, and x-rayed me... Then proceeded to tell me that he would need a day to process the x-rays, and that I should come back tomorrow. I was so upset! Here I am, thinking I would get to go running tonight, and the doctor doesn't even start to fix me!
I made an appointment for tomorrow, and I'm hoping he'll fix somethings. I'm a running junky, I need my workout tomorrow!
[Plus, I'm losing valuable training time. My 5k is in 26 days!!!}

Everyone cross your fingers for me!
Love, Morgan
